ipads in the classroom

I have got my ipad and am enjoying learning how to use it and thinking about how i will use it as an aid to teaching next year.
So far I see it as a tool for research and word processing for the students. It will be easier for the students to find information and present their work well. I’m a power point freak so I will be encouraging the use of Keynote as away to present information.
I think that Google Docs will be a useful tool for debating ideas in a live way. It will be good for the students to be able to see each others comments and then learn from them.
I want to create a class blog also as a place to submit writing. Parents will be able to read and comment on what their child is doing.
It’s all very exciting!

I am an English teacher of year 9-13 students at Whangaparaoa College. I enjoy incorporating the use of technology in the classroom and researching effective ways of engaging students. In 2012 our school introduced compulsory BYOD for year 9 and I have enjoyed this challenge. I am an advocate of Project Based Learning and plan to increase my use of this teaching style. I am also a musician and enjoy playing in local bands. If I can include music in my teaching in some way, I do it!
